Cheburakov and three former Ministry of Internal Affairs employees are accused of taking bribes worth 63 million rubles

Former deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnodar Krai Alexey Cheburakov has been charged with taking bribes worth 63 million rubles.

In addition to him, the same charges have been brought against former head of the migration control department Yury Gaponov, former head of the external labor migration department Roman Gurov, and former deputy director of the branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise «Passport and Visa Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia» Elena Voronezhskaya.

In 2021, Cheburakov took LLC «RMC PVU» under his «protection». As a result, in the Krasnodar Krai it became possible to obtain patents and other migration documents only through this company. Those who applied to the regional МВД structures bypassing «RMC PVU» were, on Cheburakov’s orders, either refused to accept documents under various pretexts, placed in fictitious queues, or subjected to «bureaucratic delays» that could last indefinitely.

In exchange for the «service», representatives of the company paid Cheburakov money every month, which he shared with his subordinates. In total, more than 63 million rubles from the company were transferred to a special account at Alfa Bank, opened in the name of a front person but accessible to Cheburakov.

Investigators are also handling a case involving large-scale production of counterfeit cigarettes in the Krasnodar Krai. Cheburakov is also a defendant in that case.
